OJI Group to build $110m plant in Việt Nam

Japan’s OJI Group has broken ground on a US$110 million aseptic carton packaging plant in the southern city of Đồng Nai as the group establishes Việt Nam as a production and supply base for its Southeast Asian operations.

The 57,000-sq.m facility, to be operated under name of Oji Liquid Pak (OLP), is located at Long Thành High-tech Industrial Park.

It is scheduled to begin operations in 2028, producing aseptic carton packaging for beverages and liquid food products.

The plant is expected to produce up to eight billion packs a year and create more than 200 jobs. It will serve the domestic market and support Oji Group’s wider supply network in Southeast Asia and other markets.

Terauchi Mikito, corporate officer, OJI Holdings Corporation, said: “Việt Nam is an important market and an increasingly strategic manufacturing base within Southeast Asia. By establishing Oji Liquid Pak and investing in local production, we are strengthening our ability to serve customers in Viet Nam and across the Asia-Pacific region. This investment reflects our long-term perspective and our confidence in the region’s continued growth.”

The investment comes as Việt Nam’s packaging and consumer goods industries adapt to the country’s evolving Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework and the broader transition toward a circular economy.

Oji Liquid Pak draws on OJI Group’s integrated experience across forest resources, paper, packaging and recycling, developed over decades in Japan.

A key advantage of the facility’s offering is its flexible approach to the existing aseptic packaging ecosystem.

The plant’s aseptic packaging materials can be integrated with roll-fed filling machines already available in the market, allowing manufacturers to leverage existing filling infrastructure while optimising operations and efficiency without compromising on quality.

Customers can also choose the solution that best fits their needs: from materials only to a full system combining packaging materials, filling technology and technical services, all through one partner.

Oji Liquid Pak (OLP) is part of OJI Group and was established in Việt Nam in 2025 to develop the Group’s liquid packaging business across the Asia-Pacific region.
