The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) will deepen cooperation in promoting business and investment activities between the two nations, following a significant surge in bilateral trade.
President of the CCC and Chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Cambodia, Kith Meng will lead a delegation accompanying Prime Minister Hun Manet on a working visit and participate in the 2026 World AI Conference in the People’s Republic of China from July 15 to 17.
During the visit, CCC will meet with its Chinese counterpart to discuss cooperation in promoting bilateral trade and investment cooperation, CCC said in a statement issued yesterday.
“Cambodia Chamber of Commerce will hold a bilateral meeting with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) to strengthen the cooperative relations between both institutions, as well as to further actively promote business and investment activities between Cambodia and China,” read the statement.
Additionally, the CCC delegation will attend other key meetings to explore new investment opportunities, expand business networks, and reinforce economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as to ensure the regional partnership framework remains robust and highly effective.
The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) of Cambodia released data showing that the economic corridor between Cambodia and China continues to strengthen rapidly.
According to the latest trade statistics, two-way trade between Cambodia and China jumped more than 25 percent to reach $11.63 billion during the first half of 2026.
In which, Cambodia exported nearly $1 billion worth of goods to China, up 25.7 percent year-on-year, while imported $10.67 billion worth of goods from China, up 25.4 percent year-on-year.
Cambodia exports a mix of agricultural products and manufactured goods to China. Primary exports include milled rice, bananas, cashew nuts, cassava, and durians.
The vast majority of imports from China consist of raw materials, machinery, and equipment used to power Cambodia’s dominant export factories.
CCC Vice-President Lim Heng highlighted that the volume of Chinese imports is a catalyst for Cambodia’s global export engine.
“It is true that we import a great deal, but after processing and manufacturing those materials, we export finished products to international markets and earn significant profits,” Heng told Khmer Times.
