Hun Sen urges OIF members to strengthen economic ties
The Acting Head of State calls on OIF member countries to deepen economic cooperation through trade and investment and mutally support one another on the international stage.

Acting Head of State Hun Sen has called for further strengthening of economic collaboration through trade and investment cooperation among the members of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).
The call was made during his meeting with Dacian Julien Ciolos, Special Advisor to the President of Romania, at the Solidarity Palace of the Senate on Wednesday.
According to Senate spokesman Chea Thyrith, Mr Hun Sen welcomed Dacian and his delegation during their visit to Cambodia. He described the presence of Dacian with the delegation a positive sign for the relations between Cambodia and Romania.
Mr Hun Sen also underscored the visit as a stepping stone to further improve the relations of Cambodia and OIF since Dacian is Romania’s official candidate for the position of Secretary General of the organisation.
He shared with Dacian and his delegation about the international situation on multilateralism, especially within the Francophonie framework which has a large membership of 53 full members.
Mr Hun Sen placed strong emphasis that all members continue strengthening cooperation with each other to make the role of the Francophonie framework more proactive and progressive.
In order to expand the Francophonie framework, he urged member countries to enhance their partnership through economic cooperation as well as trade and investment and support each other on the international stage.
Dacian thanked Mr Hun Sen for granting him and his delegation the courtesy visit and allowing him to deliver a message he brought from the President of Romania wishing King Norodom Sihamoni and Mr Hun Sen.
In response, Mr Hun Sen also thanked the President of Romania for the greeting message.
Dacian further noted the important role that OIF is playing in expanding and strengthening multilateralism among its member countries.
He said, “Cambodia and Romania are among the OIF members that have established good relations together since long.”
Dacian expressed his optimism that the two countries will work hard to further expand this relations to a higher level.
In the context of international affairs, Dacian also congratulated Cambodia on hosting the Francophonie Summit in November this year, which he considered to be a good opportunity for the Kingdom to contribute to advancing and promoting the Francophonie framework.
He then informed Mr Hun Sen that the President of Romania along with a number of business leaders will visit Cambodia during the summit.
In response, Mr Hun Sen said he is looking forward to meeting the President of Romania and business leaders this November.
Cambodia will host the 20th Francophonie Summit from November 15-16, 2026, in Phnom Penh.
