MISTI strengthens industrial safety standards for factories and enterprises

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), in collaboration with Te Zhong Shebei Jiance Yanjiu Yuan Cambodia Co Ltd, organised a dissemination workshop yesterday on implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on the certification of technical standards and safety for high-risk equipment and machinery used in factories and handicrafts.

The workshop was led by MISTI Secretary of State Tung Ciny, with more than 300 participants from MISTI, the provincial Departments of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and representatives from business associations, factories and handicrafts.

The workshop aimed to strengthen awareness of and implementation of technical and industrial safety management for equipment such as boilers, high-pressure vessels, and other high-risk machinery used in factories and handicraft enterprises, in accordance with the Law on the Management of Factories and Handicrafts.

The event also encouraged factory and handicraft owners, managers, installers, operators, and other relevant stakeholders to pay greater attention to safety and the responsible use of industrial equipment.

Ciny emphasised that strengthening industrial standards and safety is a fundamental pillar for improving productivity, protecting the safety of workers and employees, and enhancing the competitiveness of Cambodia’s industrial sector, in line with international standards and market requirements, as Cambodia prepares to graduate from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.
