Korean investors eye Cambodia’s agro-industry potential
A South Korean business delegation from Incheon has expressed growing interest in Cambodia’s investment opportunities, particularly in agro-industry and manufacturing, during talks with the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).

Chea Vuthy, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Board (CIB) of the CDC, met yesterday with a business delegation led by Park Joo Bong, President of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), in Phnom Penh.
The visit marked the third time Park has led a delegation to Cambodia to explore investment potential and deepen economic cooperation between the nations.
During the meeting, Vuthy welcomed the delegation and highlighted steady progress in bilateral economic cooperation. He noted that the visit would strengthen investor confidence and encourage additional South Korean capital into Cambodia.
The CDC official emphasised Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to improve the investment climate through attractive incentives, infrastructure development, prudent macroeconomic management and intensified measures against online fraud to ensure safety and confidence for both tourists and investors.
Referring to remarks made by Acting Head of State Hun Sen during a courtesy meeting with the ICCI delegation on Tuesday, Vuthy encouraged Korean investors to expand into Cambodia’s agro-industry sector, particularly cashew nut and rice processing, which he described as high-potential areas.
He also pointed to opportunities in rubber processing and plantation timber, driven by growing demand from tyre manufacturing plants and furniture and wood-panel factories. According to Vuthy, greater investment in these sectors would help Cambodia maximise value-added production while strengthening domestic supply chain stability.
Park praised Cambodia’s rapid development and attractive investment environment, especially in agriculture and agro-industry.
He reaffirmed ICCI’s commitment to bringing more entrepreneurs from Incheon to Cambodia to explore business opportunities.
Park said the delegation’s visit helped clarify misconceptions and provided clearer official information about the country’s improving investment environment. He also pledged to continue promoting Cambodia’s investment potential and government support measures to Korean businesses.
