YADEA Vietnam on March 1 inaugurated a smart manufacturing plant with a total first-phase investment of over US$100 million at Tân Hưng Industrial Park in the northern province of Bắc Ninh.

At the ceremony, the company rolled out its flagship electric model, the YADEA Osta, designed for the Vietnamese market. Featuring a Neo-Retro style, the model offers a maximum range of up to 180 km per charge and reflects YADEA’s long-term commitment to technology investment and improved user experience.

The factory covers an area of 232,200 sq.m, with a first-phase capacity of one million vehicles per year, expected to increase to more than two million units annually when fully operational.

The project is set to create about 1,000 jobs in the initial stage, with potential expansion to 3,000 workers in subsequent phases. Equipped with automated production lines and digital management systems, the complex is expected to strengthen Bắc Ninh’s position in the regional two-wheeler electric vehicle value chain.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Bắc Ninh People’s Committee Mai Sơn said the project demonstrates effective cooperation between local authorities and businesses. The province is prioritising modern, green and sustainable industrial development, focusing on high-tech, environmentally friendly projects with high added value and strong spillover effects.

Local leaders noted that YADEA’s continued investment highlights Bắc Ninh’s favourable business environment. The project not only contributes significantly to the local budget, but also forms an electric vehicle cluster along with the development of supporting sectors, including batteries, motors and electric and electronic components.

Authorities expressed expectations for the company to expand R&D activities, increase localisation, strengthen linkages with domestic firms, and invest in workforce training and technology transfer.

YADEA Vietnam General Director Liu Jia said the new facility marks a key milestone in the company’s long-term strategy in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. He affirmed the firm’s commitment to developing smart manufacturing, strengthening local supply chains, and supporting Vietnam’s national net-zero target.

During the event, YADEA and Grab Vietnam signed a strategic cooperation agreement to encourage ride-hailing drivers to switch to electric motorbikes. The two sides will introduce incentive programmes and optimise products based on operational data to improve efficiency and reduce urban emissions.
