South Korea's LG CNS to develop hyperscale AI data centre in Vietnam

As reported by newswire The Korea Herald, LG CNS signed an MoU for Vietnam's data centredevelopment with VNPT and Korea Investment Real Asset Management at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul on August 12.

A day earlier, VNPT and Korea Investment Real Asset Management visited the Hanam Data Centre operated by LG CNS to explore data centre technology and business capabilities.

Under the MoU, three companies will jointly develop a hyperscale AI data center in Vietnam. To facilitate the goal, each side will establish a dedicated task force of experts.

The collaboration will span the full range of AI infrastructure, from facility construction and hardware such as servers and storage to network systems, including communications and connectivity.

“The latest agreement marks an expansion of our data centre business and a turning point to accelerate Vietnam's digital transformation,” LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-gyoon said.

VNPT, Vietnam's largest state-owned telecom operator, is a leading player in the country's digital transformation drive, offering services in telecommunications, data centres, cloud computing, and smart city solutions.

The development of AI-ready data centres in Vietnam is growing steadily. Vietnam's data centre market was valued at $654 million in 2024, and is projected to reach $1.75 trillion by 2030, rising at a compound annual growth rate of 17.93 per cent, according to Research and Markets.
