Securities market sees growth in early 2025

Cambodia’s securities market reached a market capitalisation of $2.28 billion by the end of the first quarter of 2025, according to a report released by the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC) yesterday.

As of the Q1 of 2025, trading activities saw a total volume of 6.49 million shares, with the trading in the main market stocks accounting for approximately 45.21 percent of the total trading volume.

The Cambodian Stock Exchange (CSX) currently has two types of products: equity securities (shares) and corporate bonds.

In the equity market, there are a total of 11 listed companies, of which nine are listed on the main market and two are listed on the growth market.

Main Market stocks provide stability and consistent returns over the long term, making them suitable for conservative investors seeking capital preservation and steady income through dividends.

On the other hand, Growth Market stocks offer the potential for higher returns but come with increased volatility and risk.

Sou Socheat, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of SERC, highlighted the growth of the securities sector, citing that SERC has implemented programs and policies that facilitate participation in the securities market, improve incentives for participation in the securities market, promote market stability and confidence, and continue to develop infrastructure to support the capital market.

“SERC will continue to implement investor training programs and raise public awareness in cooperation with relevant national and international institutions, as well as promote public awareness of the securities market,” he said.

To promote trading and investment in securities market, SERC has also provided free investor identification numbers to investors who have applied, he added.

Those listed firms have so far raised a total of $549 million from the securities market.
