Kingdom’s exports to EU touch $1.44B in first 4 months
Cambodia’s exports to the European Union (EU) surged to $1,449 million in the first months of 2025, up 23 percent from $1,175 million compared to the same period last year.
According to a report from the Ministry of Commerce, from January to April, the Kingdom’s imports from the EU amounted to $253 million, down 8.8 percent year-on-year.
The two-way trade (exports and imports together) rose by 17 percent to $1,703 million, read the report.
Spain and Germany were Cambodia’s biggest trade partners in the EU with bilateral trade volumes of $338 million and $337 million respectively, the report stated.
Cambodia’s other destinations in the EU are France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
“Cambodia’s trade with the EU accounted for 8.6 percent of the total trade during the period,” the report stated, citing Cambodia’s international trade volume of $19,702 million.
Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce Penn Sovicheat affirmed that the substantial rise in exports to the EU signifies the inherent competitiveness of Cambodian products, allowing them to both accommodate larger orders and cater to escalating European demand.
Speaking to Khmer Times, Sovicheat said, “This consistent expansion in exports is indicative of the growing competitiveness of Cambodian merchandise in the European market.”
Cambodia primarily exports textiles, footwear, bicycles, foodstuffs, milled rice, and other agricultural products to the EU under the EBA (Everything but Arms) scheme.
Meanwhile, the country exported $309 million worth of products to the UK, a year-on-year increase of 9.5 percent, stated the report.
