Speaking at the ceremony, Jose Mestre, Fresh Food Commercial Director at Central Retail Vietnam, said the HCM City Department of Industry and Trade in collaboration with major distribution systems launched the Quality Control Cooperation Programme for Goods in HCM City in March 2024.

A key initiative of this programme, Green Tick Responsibility, aims to strengthen product quality control, establish a safe and sustainable supply chain, and encourage suppliers to uphold accountability in producing and distributing high-quality, safe products.

In alignment with this vision, Central Retail has prioritised the display and promotion of Green Tick Responsibility-certified products in its supermarkets across HCM City.

“We are pleased to see that consumers have quickly recognised and actively supported these products, reaffirming the importance of this initiative. We are confident that as consumer support for Green Tick Responsibility products continues to grow, more suppliers will participate, further contributing to a safe, sustainable, and responsible retail ecosystem,” he added.

At the event, Central Retail recognised 15 pioneering fresh food suppliers who have supported this programme from the beginning. In addition, three additional suppliers joined the event to explore future collaboration.

It also signed an agreement with the Department of Industry and Trade of Lâm Đồng Province to implement the programme.

“The signing of cooperation agreements today with suppliers from Lâm Đồng, and soon from Đồng Tháp, will further expand our partnerships, extend the reach of the Green Tick Responsibility programme, and increase consumer access to high-quality, safe, and transparent food products,” Jose said.

Ngô Hồng Y, head of the commercial management division at the Department of Industry and Trade, emphasised that the ‘Green Tick Responsibility’ programme plays a crucial role in inspecting and controlling product quality. It contributes to building a sustainable supply chain while filtering out suppliers and manufacturers that violate quality commitments and do not ensure food safety.

He appreciated Central Retail for being among the major distribution systems that have actively participated in the programme from the outset.

The number of distribution systems participating in the programme has increased from six in the initial phase to 11 now, demonstrating the programme’s strong impact and widespread influence, he added.
