Hanoi set 169,000 new job creation targets for 2025

Hanoi's priority will be high-quality training for jobs that are in line with the city's socio-economic development requirements.

Hanoi plans to create 169,000 new jobs in 2025, according to the latest plan from the city's People's Committee. The initiative aims to develop a comprehensive labor market that efficiently mobilizes, allocates, and utilizes resources while fostering a modern labor structure and connecting Hanoi's labor market with other regions across the country.

Hanoi's employment plan focuses on reducing the urban jobless rate to below 3% and increasing the proportion of trained workers to 75%.

Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee, said that achieving these goals will require specific measures, including strengthening social insurance policies and developing the labor market.

The city will also promote technological innovation and improve industrial production processes, actively participating in and taking advantage of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to boost labor productivity, she said.

In addition, the city plans to restructure its industrial sector and promote high-tech agriculture and organic farming to ensure effective and sustainable market linkages.

The city will focus on developing unique and high-quality tourism offerings that entice tourist spending to expand tourism.

To improve the quality of its workforce, Hanoi will prioritize high-quality training for jobs that meet the city's socio-economic development requirements. This includes focusing on students' career orientation in secondary education and implementing a project to upgrade vocational education from 2025 to 2030, with a vision to 2035, while strengthening partnerships with enterprises.

The city is estimated to create 225,000 jobs in 2024, which is 136.3% of the annual plan.

Timeline of Hanoi employment plan progress in 2025

In the first quarter of 2025, 53 job fairs will be organized with VND978 billion ($38.4 million) from the city budget disbursed through the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies. The move aims to create 13,600 new jobs and facilitate the placement of 600 workers in overseas positions under labor contracts.

In the second quarter, the number of job fairs will increase to 67. The city will allocate VND1.3 trillion ($51.1 million) to create 18,800 new jobs and send 1,300 people abroad on labor contracts.

In the third quarter, 67 job fairs will continue to be held, with VND716 billion ($28.1 million) spent from the city's budget. These efforts are expected to create 9,900 new jobs, while 1,400 workers will be sent to work abroad.
