PM: Cambodia-France bilateral trade surges to $515M in 2023, reaches $206M in early 2024

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that France remains one of Cambodia’s largest trade and investment partners among European countries and has steadily increased its involvement, speaking on Jul. 8 during the opening of the 2nd Cambodia-France Business Forum at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

Hun Manet underlined that the bilateral trade between Cambodia and France in 2023 amounted to $515.21 million, and $206.41 million was recorded in the first five months of 2024.

The premier added that many French companies, from multinationals to small and medium enterprises, have established bases in Cambodia, including Vinci, Total Energies, Accor, BRED Bank, and numerous other small and medium enterprises owned by French business people.

“French investment contributes to job creation, skills transfer, and infrastructure development, which form the basis for sustainable economic growth in Cambodia,”he underscored.

He continued, “I am optimistic that after this forum, Cambodia will receive a substantial amount of French investment and business, surpassing previous years’ records.”

At the same time, through the 2nd Cambodia-France Business Forum, Hun Manet invited all French investors to explore the vast investment potential and rich opportunities and make strategic decisions to take advantage of the country’s close bilateral relations. Cambodia is ready to welcome and provide full support and hospitality to investors and business people.

France is Cambodia’s second-largest trading partner in Europe after Germany. French exports to Cambodia in 2023 increased significantly by 31 percent compared to 2022, especially in agricultural, food, pharmaceutical, and metal products. Cambodia’s exports to France include textiles, agricultural products, food, and bicycles.
