Cambodia, an investment destination and potential market for Korean industry

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, Han Duck-soo, has said Cambodia is an investment destination and a potential market for the Korean industry, especially the automotive industry.

In a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, in Seoul yesterday, the S. Korean Premier voiced his support and satisfaction with the premier’s initiative to create special economic zones for Korean companies and establish Regular Consultation Sessions between the Korean Business Association in Cambodia and the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Han Duck-soo also expressed his pleasure in additional Official Development Assistance to Cambodia through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) grant and concessional loans through the Korea Economic Development Co-operation Fund (EDCF Loan).

Hun Manet, in turn, commended the Cambodia-Korea relations and cooperation, which have elevated to the level of a “Strategic Partnership”. He particularly praised the proactive involvement of the Korean government in Cambodia’s socio-economic development, a testament to their strong bilateral ties.

Additionally, the Cambodian Premier underscored the importance of the symbolic project, the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge, which is set to commence construction in the near future. This bridge, a tangible representation of the enduring friendship between the two nations, was acknowledged by the premier, who expressed gratitude to the Korean government for their invaluable contribution to this project.

The two leaders reaffirmed their position and belief that the bilateral relations and cooperation between both nations under the level of strategic partnership will continue to grow and become stronger.
