The Vietnamese government chief was speaking while chairing a banquet held in Hanoi on Friday for representatives of foreign-invested enterprises, foreign investors and associations, international donors, ambassadors, development cooperation agencies, and international organizations in Vietnam.

The event was hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year festival, which will fall on February 10.

On behalf of Party and State leaders, PM Chinh expressed his gratitude to international friends, donors and investors for their support for the country’s development, especially in 2023.

He called on them to accompany Vietnam in taking actions to make a better world, bring more happiness and prosperity to all peoples, and ensure no one is left behind.

The PM urged foreign investors to make and promote their investment in Vietnam, where the host government facilitates their operations for mutual interests in the spirit of “harmonizing interests and sharing risks.”

“Your successes are Vietnam’s successes,” Chinh emphasized.

In recent years, despite difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam has still ensured macroeconomic stability, kept inflation at bay, promoted growth, and taken good control of budget deficit, public debt, government debt, and foreign debt, the PM stated.

With the continued support of the international community, including investors, Vietnam will certainly gain more socio-economic development achievements in 2024, the government leader said.

He also extended warm regards and best wishes for the new year from the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam, especially from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, to all ambassadors, chief representatives of foreign permanent agencies, international donors and investors.

As the world continues facing global challenges such as wars, energy shortages, resource depletion, climate change and population aging in 2024, there is a need to strengthen international solidarity, promote multilateralism, and take actions for the benefit of people in every nation.

As a country that once experienced war and embargo, Vietnam always appreciates the value of peace and will never sacrifice social progress and justice in the pursuit of simple economic growth, the government leader stated.

Speaking at the banquet, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said Vietnam faced a lot of difficulties during 2023 but it overcame them to gain many remarkable socio-economic achievements that were highly valued by the international community.

“We have won over headwinds to confidently enter 2024 with many challenges forecast. However, Vietnam is steadfast in its goal of rapid and sustainable development, promoting growth on the foundation of maintaining macroeconomic stability,” Dung said.

To continue making successes, it is essential for Vietnam to further cultivate, develop and promote cooperative relations with its international partners including foreign investors in a deeper and more effective way.

In referring to the coming lunar new year as the year of the Dragon, a symbol of strength and strong belief of Asian people, Dung expressed his belief that Vietnam’s economy will maintain its steady growth to continue to be a ‘dragon’ of Asia.

Many representatives of foreign investors, international organizations, and donors congratulated Vietnam on achieving significant achievements amidst the downturn of the global economy.

They attributed Vietnam’s successes to its proper and effective development orientations, and expressed their appreciation for the host government’s support and facilitation for their business operations in the country.

United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Pauline Tamesis said she is ready to support Vietnam in building socio-economic development plans for its next stages.

Particularly, Tamesis said she would assist Vietnam in strengthening data and analysis necessary for accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
