The awarding ceremony of ASEAN Tourism Awards took place on Saturday in Laotian capital city of Vientiane on Friday, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

These 25 Vietnamese businesses grasped their awards in various categories, including ASEAN Green Hotel Award, ASEAN Clean Tourism City Award, ASEAN MICE Awards (for Meeting Room, Exhibition Venue and Event Venue) and ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award (for the Gastronomy Tourism).

The ASEAN Tourism Awards is an annual event to honor localities and units with high-quality tourism products and services, contributing to the sustainable development of tourism destinations in the ASEAN region.

The award recognition was based on 108 criteria in a number of main groups, such as the quality of tourism infrastructure and facilities, environmental management, waste management, and cleanliness, to name a few.

The event, which was launched within the framework of ATF 2024, is an opportunity for tourism businesses and local tourism organizations to effectively market their business activities and contribute to promoting the national tourism brands.

With the theme of ‘Quality and Responsible Tourism: Sustaining ASEAN Future,’ the ATF 2024 commenced on Monday and ended on Saturday.

The annual ATF aims to demonstrate ASEAN's determination to improve the quality of tourism services, create more high-quality destinations, strengthen the tourism industry’s responsibility for environment and nature protection, and promote sustainable tourism development.

At ATF 2024, a series of significant activities took place, including the 59th ASEAN National Tourism Organizations Meeting, the Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) Trade Fair, the 44th Meeting of the ASEAN Plus Three National Tourism Organizations, and the 27th Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers, among others.

By enriching tourism product lines such as eco-tourism, religious tourism, and medical tourism, tourism businesses in the region in general and in Vietnam in particular not only create more job opportunities but also enhance the value of tourism products and provide travelers with plenty of destination choices.
