Vietnam joins ITB Asia in Singapore

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, is running a pavilion at ITB Asia 2023, Asia’s leading travel trade show, which kicked off in Marina Bay Sands on Wednesday and wraps up on Friday.

The municipal department said on Thursday that its participation in the event is aimed at promoting tourism, popularizing the city’s unique tourist services and products, and attracting more international travelers to Vietnam.

Besides, joining such a large travel trade show is meant to help link local travel tours and Singaporean and regional firms, while spurring trade connectivity.

Apart from representatives from Ho Chi Minh City, some travel firms from Binh Phuoc Province and Da Nang City, as well as Vietnam’s major tourism companies such as Vinpearl, Vietravel, Saigon Tourist, Ben Thanh Tourist, TST Tourist, SacoTravel, Lua Viet Tours, Footsteps Indochina Travel, and Saigon Global Travel are taking part in ITB Asia 2023.

A delegation of Vietnamese tourism officials led by Le Truong Hien Hoa, deputy director of the municipal tourism department, has teamed up with tour operators, airlines, and hotels to launch various promotion programs to provide foreign tourists with the latest information about Vietnamese tourism products and services.

Many tours, including leisure, wellness retreats, culture and history-centered travel, golf tourism, bleisure (a term used to describe travel that combines business and leisure) travel, and ecotourism, are geared up for Singaporean visitors.

Vietnamese representatives are also introducing a series of promotional programs and discounts, aside from numerous upcoming festivals, to foreign travelers during the event.

Singapore is one of Vietnam’s key tourism markets, according to the municipal department.

Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Vietnam welcomed some 310,000 Singaporean holidaymakers per year.

In 2022, over 178,800 tourists from the city-state traveled to Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh City is stepping up efforts to promote tourism in many countries.

Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, led a delegation to Luang Prabang, Laos to join a culture and tourism week, scheduled to take place from October 22 to 29.

The delegation is seeking to build a link between local tour operators and Lao travel firms, and introduce the beauty of Vietnam’s northwest region.

Many Vietnamese travel firms have launched tours around Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, offering visitors trips connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the northwest region and Laos.
