Shares gain ground on oil stocks

Shares gained ground on Wednesday morning, bolstered by the strong support of oil stocks.

 

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the VN-Index increased 0.20 per cent to 1,357.36 points.

Liquidity was modest with 369 million shares worth a combined VNĐ10.9 trillion traded on the southern bourse.

Market breadth was positive with 215 gaining stocks and 183 losers.

The VN30-Index gained 0.04 per cent this morning to 1,456.76 points. Of the VN30 basket, 15 stocks slid while 15 rose.

The oil sector had a good trading session, strongly supporting the overall market. Gainers in the group included PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services Corporation (PVD), PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PVS) and PetroVietnam Power Corporation (POW).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index edged up 0.11 to 366.89 points.
