Most managers in manufacturing sector want to switch jobs
Eighty-three percent of directors in Vietnam's manufacturing sector want to change jobs for better pay in H2, a survey has found.This ratio is higher than the 71 percent of new graduates who want to switch jobs in the second half of the year, showing that the higher the position, the more people want to find a new job, according to the results of a survey by recruitment firm VietnamWorks. It polled 750 employees in the manufacturing sector in July.
The higher the seniority, the greater the desire to switch jobs, the survey found. 81 percent of those who worked for three years or more at a company wanted to find a new job, compared to 68 percent of those who had worked for less than a year.Older candidates have a higher tendency to switch jobs. 84 percent of people in Generation X, those born between 1965-1980, wanted to switch jobs, compared to 69 percent of Generation Z, born in 1996 or later.
In terms of industry, textile-footwear and logistics topped the chart with 81 percent of respondents wanting to switch jobs in H2, followed by electronics at 80 percent.
The top reasons candidates want to switch jobs were more competitive salary and bonus (57 percent) and better welfare (41 percent). They also wanted to have higher positions (28 percent).
VietnamWorks data shows that the number of online job posts in the manufacturing sector in H1 had almost doubled in the last five years.In terms of location, the northern province of Ha Nam lead the country in terms of growth in job posts between H1 2014 and H1 2019 job with 421 percent, followed by the southern province of Dong Nai with 287 percent and Ho Chi Minh City with 279 percent.
The nuumber of manufacturing jobseekers in H1 rose by 10 percent year-on-year, indicating a large labor supply pool for the sector, VietnamWorks said.
