PVOIL aims to double noncash fuel sales

PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) has set a target of doubling the volume of fuel sold through cashless payments over the next six months with the cooperation of ewallet service provider MoMo, in line with a government resolution promoting cashless payments for public services.

PVOIL on October 23 signed a strategic cooperation agreement with MoMo to provide a new payment solution for PVOIL customers.

Accordingly, in early November, customers will be able to pay for oil and gasoline at PVOIL and COMECO petrol stations nationwide through the MoMo app.

The partnership is aimed at boosting cashless payments in line with the Government’s Resolution 02, dated January 1, 2019, to promote noncash payments for public services.

PVOIL sells some 5,000 cubic meters of fuel per month on average with noncash payments by scanning QR codes, PVOIL General Director Cao Hoai Duong said, adding that he expected the figure to increase to 10,000 cubic meters in the next six months thanks to the rising number of customers opting to make payments with the MoMo app.

In February 2018, PVOIL launched the PVOIL Easy program, offering firms the noncash payment method at its petrol stations, using the QR Code scanning system.

Some 80% of PVOIL’s corporate customers have switched to the easy noncash payment method.

“Cashless payments will enhance transparency in our business operations and relationship with the community,” Duong remarked.

PVOIL, one of Vietnam’s leading fuel traders, with a market share of 20%, runs over 3,000 gas stations nationwide.
