BMT solar farm officially comes into operation

The BMT solar farm today held its inauguration ceremony, whereby it started to get connected to the grid and be put into commercial operation, marking the very first grid-connected solar farm in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

The BMT solar farm project has an installed capacity of 30Mwp, invested by a joint venture between AMI Renewables Energy JSC and AC Energy from the Philippines.

This is a typical renewable energy project of Dak Lak, in response to the call for investment in renewable energy in Vietnam, according to Decision No.11/2017/QD-TTg on encouraging the development of solar power by the prime minister.

At the inauguration ceremony, San Pedro Rodrigo, director of the BMT solar farm project - commended the EPC contractor (partnership between Malaysia-based ERS Energy Sdn Bhd and IPC Group Vietnam) for their tireless efforts to bring the project into commercial operation ahead of schedule according to the contract.

It was able to ensure a safe amount of time before the golden deadline June 30, 2019, which is the expiration of the feed-in-tariff as an incentive for encouraging solar power investment.

Rodrigo said, “I was blown away with the technical and project management capacities demonstrated by IPC Group. At the same time, I acknowledged IPC Group as one of the first entities in Vietnam to be able to thoroughly understand and master the design (using PVSyst software), construction and commissioning of a solar farm project.”

It is known that IPC Group is a conglomerate in the steel and construction industries, with its revenue of over VND6 trillion ($260.86 million) per year. For 10 consecutive years, IPC Group has been ranked in the top 500 largest joint stock enterprises in Vietnam (VNR500).

In addition to the BMT solar farm project, IPC Group also takes part as an EPC general contractor member in two other solar power farm projects in Vietnam, namely AMI Khanh Hoa 50Mwp solar power plant project in Cam An Nam, Khanh Hoa province (also invested by the joint venture of AMI JSC and AC Energy) and Chu Ngoc – EVN Licogi, Gia Lai 15Mwp solar power plant project, invested by Licogi 16 JSC.

IPC Group also acts as the operation and maintenance (O&M) contractor for the above projects and two solar power projects, namely Tri Viet Tay Ninh and Bach Khoa Tay Ninh (Invested by Sungrow China).

Up to now, IPC Group is proud to be one of the pioneering Vietnamese companies in the field of implementing renewable energy projects, joining three projects as an EPC general contractor and four projects as an operation and maintenance - O&M contractor.

The group is shifting its development path towards renewable energy by acquiring the latest technology transfers to become the leading EPC contractor and investor in the industries of solar power farms, rooftop solar power, wind power, and bioelectric power.
