Work starts on VND1.7 trillion wind farm in Ninh Thuan

Chinh Thang Wind Power Company Limited on Thursday held a ceremony to start the construction of a VND1.7 trillion (US$71.5 million) wind power farm in Thuan Nam District, Ninh Thuan Province.

The plant will have capacity of 50MW and is expected to start generating electricity in April 2020, the company's director Lai Nhu Y said.

Y said the company wanted support from Ninh Thuan People’s Committee to develop another 50MW power plant in the province.

According to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Luu Xuan Vinh, Ninh Thuan always welcomes investments in the province.

Under the Government’s Resolution 115/NQ-CP dated on August 31, 2018, Ninh Thuan was recognised as the country’s renewable energy hub.

The provincial authority has granted licences for several renewable energy projects, including solar power projects with a total capacity of nearly 1,817 MW worth VND50 trillion and wind power projects with total capacity of 800MW worth VND27.9 trillion.

In the province, three wind power projects are already operational, namely Dam Nai, Mui Dinh and Trung Nam wind power plants with total capacity of 117MW.
