Ha Nam approves $6m battery production project

The Viet Nam GP Battery on Friday received the approval of Ha Nam People's Committee over its plan to develop a US$6-million battery factory in the locality, baodautu.vn reports.

The construction of the 29,400sq.m factory is expected to be completed by 2018 at Hoa Mac Industrial Park in Duy Tien District.

During the ceremony held to grant the licence, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Mai Tien Dung said the province would help the investor by ensuring sufficient power and water supply, as well as by speeding up the customs procedures.

The investor would also be provided a wastewater treatment system, land for workers' residential area and qualified manpower, he said.

Viet Nam GP Battery is a joint venture of Singapore's GP Batteries International Limited and Viet Nam's Ha Noi Battery Joint Stock Company.

In his speech at the event, Director-General of GP Batteries International Limited Henry Leung said he hoped the local authority would offer the company preferential policies, and pledged to finish the project as per schedule.
