European Chamber, Laos to talk on AEC preparations

A seminar on the Asean Economic Community 2015 (AEC) and taxes, developments and arbitration under Asean investment agreements and bilateral investment agreement between Asean member states will be held next month in Laos.

The European Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECCIL) in Laos together with DFDL Legal & Tax and Allen & Gledhill (Laos) Co., Ltd will present the seminar on November 17 in Vientiane.

The seminar will cover the cross border tax structuring between Asean countries from a Lao perspective, according to a handout from ECCIL recently.

Recent developments in Asean and what the future holds for Lao companies planning to do business in the AEC and for foreign investors planning to do business with Laos and Asean will also be discussed.

Case studies will feature the taxation of the movement of employees and professionals, tax efficient repatriation of profits to and from Laos, manufacturing companies based in Laos and selling to Asean countries, planning for the sale of investments in Asean countries and assessing whether it makes sense to use a Lao company to invest in other Asean countries.

The seminar will also cover the development of and investment in Lao Special Economic Zones. It will also have a panel discussion with a group of experts and question and answer sessions.
