VN-Index makes modest recovery

Shares improved slightly this morning on the HCM Stock Exchange, backed by the recovery of several large-cap shares.

 

The VN-Index gained 0.18 per cent to close at 628 points, while the VN30, which tracks the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity, was up 0.15 per cent to stand at 650.02 points.

The gainers included banks such as Military Bank (MBB), Vietinbank (CTG) and Vietcombank and steel firm Hoa Phat Group (HPG), as well as Phu My Fertiliser (DPM), property developer Hoang Anh Gia Lai Co (HAG) and software producer FPT Corp (FPT).

Liquidity continued to slide, however, as just 56 million shares worth VND926.5 billion (US$42.5 million) were traded by the end of the morning.

FLC Group (FLC) was leading the trading with 8.7 million of its shares being exchanged, climbing 3.7 per cent to touch VND8,400 per share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index lost another 0.35 per cent to end at 87.28 points, while the trading value remained sluggish at just VND389.5 billion ($17.9 million).

KLF Joint Venture Global Investment Co (KLF) was the most active stock, with 3.2 million of its shares being exchanged at VND6,600 each. The afternoon session will start at 1pm.
