Markets end higher in early trading

The domestic stock market stayed positive on both bourses this morning with the rise of bank shares, securities shares and insurance shares.

 

Market liquidity was high, with 161.6 million shares being traded on both markets, worth VND2.4 trillion (US$11.5 million).

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index added 0.56 per cent to end at 625.61 points, and the HNX Index on the northern bourse was up 0.06 per cent to close at 87.97 points.

Kinh Do Corporation (KDC) gained VND1,700 in market value, the largest increase among blue chips.

Vietinbank (CTG) was the bank code that made the largest gain in market value of VND900 or 4.28 per cent to end at VND21,900 per share, while other banks made slight gains.

In the insurance sector, BIDV Insurance Corporation (BIC) and Bao Minh Insurance Corporation (BMI) reached their ceiling values of VND23,300 and VND19,000 per share.

Ocean Group Corporation (OGC) and Military Bank (MBB) traded a total of 13.3 million shares this morning to become the most active codes.

In contrast, shares on the northern market were mixed. Drilling Mud Corporation (PVC) and Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PVS) gained 0.78 and 0.71 per cent respectively.

Securities shares declined, while bank shares gained slightly.

FIT Investment JSC (FIT) traded nearly 2.8 million shares and led the trading on the market. FIT gained 0.79 per cent to close at VND12,800.
