Dong Nai to get first hi-tech industrial park

Construction work on a hi-tech industrial park (IP) in the southern Dong Nai Province's Long Thanh District will begin this year.

This is the first of its kind in the province.

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dinh Quoc Thai said the park's establishment had complied with provincial development strategies to lure hi-tech and supportive projects to the locality.

The committee has granted the wholly Thai-invested Amata Vietnam Joint Stock Company an investment licence to implement the US$300-million project, which will cover 410ha. The project is expected to transform the local land into a modern, international-level IP, boosting the district's socio-economic development.

It will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will be from 2015 to 2017, and the second one will end by 2020.

Speaking at the ceremony organised to grant the licence to Amata Viet Nam, Thai highly appreciated the contributions of the Thai company to the province in the past 20 years. He said the company should enhance its efforts to implement the hi-tech IP project as per schedule.

Thai said the province was currently home to about 1,300 foreign projects with a total capital of more than US$26 billion.

On its completion, the Long Thanh hi-tech park is expected to attract $650 million to $750 million in foreign capital and generate 60,000 to 220,000 jobs. A transport system will be implemented to connect the province with areas in its vicinity.
