Channel NewsAsia opens bureau in Ha Noi

Regional broadcaster ChannelNewsAsia launched its Viet Nam news bureau on Tuesday.

The office, located in Ha Noi, is the channel's 14th dedicated bureau in Southeast and East Asia.

The plan to open the bureau was announced last year by Debra Soon, Head of MediaCorp's News and Premier Segment, at Channel NewsAsia's Vietnam Business Insights forum.

"With our bureau in place here in Ha Noi, we are extending our ability to report with depth and integrity. This is what the channel stands for, and it aims to facilitate a better understanding of Asia and what it has to offer the world," Soon said.

The bureau has been opened at a time when the region is set to see further integration, with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Community ready to be established by the end of the year. The ASEAN Community will offer tremendous opportunities for businesses, people-to-people exchanges and closer regional economic integration.
