Securities push up market

The stock market fell in the morning session after opening higher, but managed to close slightly higher than yesterday's figure.

 

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index increased by 0.32 per cent to close at 582.92 points, with 112 gainers and 85 losers.

Market liquidity remained high, though it fell slightly from Thursday's figures, with 77.7 million shares being traded, worth VND1.3 trillion (US$60.8 million).

Blue chips continued to have the maximum effect on the market. The VN30, which tracks the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity, increased by 0.31 per cent to close at 603.25 points.

Securities firms rose sharply this morning. Agribank Securities JSC (AGR) hit the ceiling price of VND6,200 per share, while HCM City Securities Corporation (HCM) rose by 2.93 per cent to stand at VND35,100 per share.

Real-estate shares remained attractive to investors, but most of them ended in the red due to heavy pressure on profit taking. Duc Long Gia Lai JSC (DLG), FLC Group (FLC) and HCM City Infrastructure Investment JSC (CII) fell slightly.

DLG was also the most active code on the market, with six million of its shares being traded, but fell by 4.08 per cent to end at VND9,400 per share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index rose by 0.48 per cent to stand at 88.14 points.

The northern bourse traded 42 million shares, worth VND532 billion ($24.6 million).

FIT Investment JSC (FIT) was the only stock that traded more than three million shares, but it lost 2.35 per cent to reach VND16,600 per share.

Securities shares drove the market up. Sai Gon-Ha Noi Securities JSC (SHS), IB Securities JSC (VIX) and VNDirect Securities JSC (VND) rose by 3.41, 2.36 and 5.79 per cent, respectively.

The afternoon session will start at 1pm.
