Market falls as bank shares decline

The market ended slightly down this morning as all bank shares fell from yesterday's values.

 

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN Index lost 0.12 per cent to close at 579.16 points.

The number of gainers was half the number of losers by 58 to 123.

More than 80.4 million shares were traded, worth VND1.27 trillion (US$58.7 million).

Large-cap shares ended mixed. Idico-Petroleum Trading Construction Investment JSC (PXL) and Petroleum Equipment Assembly and Metal Structure JSC (PXS) were the only two gas stocks that rose this morning.

FLC Group (FLC) and HCM City Infrastructure Investment JSC (CII) remained the most active codes, but traded only eight million and five million shares, respectively.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index was down 0.63 per cent to close at 87.29 points.

More than 43.2 million shares were traded, worth VND520 billion ($24 million).

The gainers were outnumbered by the losers by 48 to 123, while 188 stocks remained unchanged.

Hanoi Investment General Corporation (SHN) fluctuated strongly during the morning and closed at the ceiling price of VND19,000.

Four stocks traded more than three million shares on the market, including FIT Investment JSC (FIT), KLF Investment Global JSC (KLF), Saigon Commercial Real Estate JSC (SCR) and PetroVietnam Construction JSC (PVX).

Only PVX rose by 2.38 per cent in market value to stand at VND4,300 this morning. The other stocks either fell or remained unchanged from yesterday's values.

The afternoon session will begin at 1pm.
