Lao Airlines' Luang Prabang receives ISO certificate

The Lao Airlines' Luang Prabang branch has received ISO certificate 9001:2008 recognising the quality of its passenger services, reservation and ticketing, ground handing and cargo services.

The certificate was presented on Tuesday in Luang Prabang province by the Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) General Manager, Mr Montree Tangtermsirikul to Lao Airlines's Luang Prabang Branch General Manager, Mr Viengsamai Sirirath.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr Lattanamany Khounnivong, Luang Prabang provincial Deputy Governor, Dr Bouakhong Nammavong and General Director of Lao Airlines Dr Somphone Duangdala along with officials from the relevant sector.

The responsible committee from Lao Airlines headquarters, Luang Prabang branch and the audit company have worked together to create a standard quality system since 2013, in particular document improvement, regulation and guidelines as well as training, said Mr Viengsamai.

Receiving this ISO certificate is only the first mark and achievement of the Luang Prabang branch. However, Mr Viengsamai stressed, there will be more challenges in regards to the practical implementation going forward.

The practical challenges envisaged include estimations on passenger services, customers' comments, domestic inspections and future audits by the ISO, he said.

If services are not in line with the regulations governing the standard quality system, the certificate will be rescinded within six months and the branch will be put on the blacklist for three years, Mr Viengsamai explained.

So, he asked every employee of the Luang Prabang branch to take high responsibility in providing services to customers' satisfaction.

I SO 9001:2008 is a management standard quality system that is accepted for organisations and private businesses throughout the world for production, services, and human resource development .

Service is a main factor for business operation, especially in the airline industry. The service standard quality of the Lao Airlines' Luang Prabang branch is one of the preparatory measures for air services integration with the Asean Economic Community.

Lao Airlines is improving different aspects of its business and operations to international standards, especially services, marketing and administration so that it can maintain the confidence of its customers.
