Land Rover launches new Discovery Sport in Laos

Lao Land Rover on Friday launched the brand new Discovery Sport in Vientiane, another key addition to the UK's Land Rover range of four-wheel drive vehicles.

The launch took place at the National Conference Centre in participation with Land Rover's partners, dealers, vehicle traders in Laos and customers.

Speaking at the event, Lao Land Rover's Retail Sales Manager, Mr Somsanouk Khounsathone, said the spirit of adventure that is typically Land Rover moves on to a new chapter but at the same time retains all that is great about all Land Rover vehicles.

Land Rover sales have gone from strength to strength in recent years and stand at well over 350,000 cars sold per year and continue to grow, said British Ambassador to Laos, Mr Philip Malone.

Asia is an especially important market and it's great to see so many Land Rovers here in Laos, he said.

As you would expect from Land Rover, the Discovery Sport has all the latest design and technology features including even an innovative airbag fitted in the bonnet to protect pedestrians in case of a collision, said Mr Malone.

Land Rover's latest offering is beautifully designed and is sure to have great popular appeal, he added.

The Discovery Sport is set to become the first of an all new range of Land Rover Discovery models, designed to sit alongside the Range Rover models as a separate suite of cars to provide a wider choice to customers.

The Discovery name has long been associated with Land Rover's spirit of adventure and ultimate versatility. As a principal element in the product story for almost 25 years, it plays a definitive role in the DNA of the brand, said Regional Business Manager, Asia Pacific, Mr Steve Martin.

The Discovery Sport comes with a range of four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines at launch, stop/start technology, high pressure direct injection, low-friction internal components and smart regenerative charging for outstanding performance and economy.

The Discovery Sport is the most versatile and capable premium compact SUV on the market.

Design leadership and engineering integrity have created the ultimate use of interior space with class-leading versatility and optional 5+2 seating with exceptional levels of quality, refinement and engineering excellence.

The Discovery Sport offers a blend of refined, responsive and agile experience on road combined with best-in-segment off-road ability.
