New Lao-Viet Bank multipurpose complex underway
Work has begun on a new centre incorporating accommodation and training facilities for Lao-Viet Bank in Vientiane, with a groundbreaking ceremony taking place last Sunday in Nongtha village, Chanthabouly district.
The project when complete will feature administration offices, staff apartments, offices for rent, technical training centre along with guest accommodation.
The complex site will occupy about four hectares with the total project costing US$15 million. Construction is expected to take ten months to complete.
The Lao-Viet Bank, founded on June 22, 1999, is a joint venture between the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and the Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao Public (BCEL). It is currently headquartered in Vientiane and has three services units, and seven branches, inclu ding two branches in Vietnam.
General Director of Lao-Viet Bank, Mr Doan Viet Nam, reported that when the project is finished it will be used as an administrative and training centre for BIDV staff in Laos as well as accommodation for the bank's officials.
Lao authorities commented that the modern project would help contribute to the financial sector and development of the capital.
Last Sunday's groundbreaking cerem ony was attended by the Vietnamese Vice President Le Hong Anh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Sports Dr Phankham Viphavanh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, Mr Nguyen Manh Hun g, as well as officials and representatives of BIDV and BCEL.
