Vietinbank assists Attapeu province
Vietinbank Laos Branch is proving not only benefits for customers but also for society by contributing to worthy causes. Apart from being a dependable partner in business, the bank is determined to lend a hand to assist deserving social projects.
As part of its corporate responsibility, Vietinbank Laos Branch has offered 30 sets of computers to students in Xaysettha district, Attapeu province, worth US$18,500.
The new donated equipment will enable students in the district to have a better learning environment, contributing to the cause of Lao education and strengthening the cooperative relationship between Laos and Vietnam.
The equipment was handed over in Vientiane on Tuesday by Director of Vietinbank Laos Branch Mr Le Quoc Nam and received by the Governor of Xaysettha district, Mr Udonla Xayasak.
Mr Udonla thanked the State Bank of Vietnam and Vietinbank. This donation also affirms the solid relationship between Laos and Vietnam.
Vietinbank was established in 1988 after being separated from the State Bank of Vietnam. Being one of the four largest State-owned commercial banks of Vietnam, VietinBank's total assets account for over 20 percent of the market share of the whole Vietnamese banking system.
On December 31, 2014, credit increased 16.8 percent, deposit money increased 16.4 percent, total assets increased 14.7 percent (about US$32 billion), and profit before tax was over US$270 million.
Vietinbank has developed an operations network comprising 1 transaction centre, 150 branches, and over 1,000 transaction offices/savings offices. The bank has established correspondent relationships with 900 banks, financial institutions in 90 countries, and territories all over the world.
Over three years in Laos, Vietinbank has followed safe, effective and sustainable procedures and, in compliance with international standards, customer prosperity is our success.
Vietinbank Laos Branch has made a profit over these three years, from the first year until the present. Profit in 2014 was more than double that made in 2013.
In addition to business, VietinBank Laos Branch also contributes to social activities. For example, it provided 100 computers to the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union and gave medical equipment to Vat Si-amphone clinic in Vientiane worth over US$300,000.
The bank has also supported Vientiane's Ophthalmology Centre and assisted those affected by natural disasters and fires in Thongkhankham market and Dongpalan in Vientiane.ring the handover ceremony, Mr Le Quoc Nam said education is important for the people to contribute to the development of the country. “Vietinbank is very pleased and hoped that 30 computers shall allow students in Attapeu to get the chance to have a better base of study and research,” he said.
