Champassak businesswomen celebrate Asean success

Ahampassak provincial Women's Business Association yesterday held a press conference after attending the First Asean Women Entrepreneurs Forum (AWEF) in Hanoi, Vietnam, last month.

The press conference took place at the Arawan Riverside Hotel in Pakxe district, Champassak province, and was attended by provincial Governor Dr Bounthong Divixay and provincial Women's Business Association President Ms Kaenchan Bouthdavong.

Female business operators from Champassak province and representatives from the Lao Women's Business Association and the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the press conference.

The main objective of the event was to publicise the achievements of Vice President of the Daoheuang Group Ms Boonheuang Litdang, who received an AWEF award from a high ranking Vietnamese government official at the forum.

Ms Boonheuang is also Vice President of the Champassak provincial Women's Business Association. The press conference was also a platform for leading female entrepreneurs in Laos to discuss their experiences and business operations.

The event enabled them to learn more about the successful operation of a business and how women are faring in the current business climate in Laos.

Over the years, many female entrepreneurs have become good models for the younger generation. The event also shaped expectations concerning the drive to develop female entrepreneurs in Laos and for more women to become business leaders in Asean member states, including Laos.

The AWEF creates opportunities for women entrepreneurs in the region to share, learn from experience and develop business connections, and encourages women entrepreneurs in the region to participate in the value chain and global supply chain. It also aims to help the younger generation of entrepreneurs learn from successful experiences in the region. The forum was attended by more than 300 female entrepreneurs from Asean member states.
