UniqTeK company helps boost skills for Lao land surveys

UniqTeK Company Limited, a surveying instrument provider, provided a three-day training course recently for survey staff from the Department of Land Administration at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

The training aimed to help upgrade the skills of land surveyors and improve the speed and efficiency of their work. The training explained how to use CHC Navigation GNSS receivers, the Beidou Satellite System and their GIS software “LandStar Land Title”.

The instrument used for the training is RTK X91+ which has an accuracy of 1cm level; the software can also help surveyors draw Land Title maps on the field straight away. As a result, time is saved and the process shortened. It also helps increase the efficiency and effectiveness of doing the survey by reducing the number of people required and the time spent to survey one plot of land.

After the training, the department believes the technology will be suitable for their current use and has the ability to collect all land files throughout the whole country, which can be used as a basis to solve disputes concerning land plots and increase the expected income for the government progressively.

Additionally, UniqTek Co., Ltd. donated a Laptop with GIS software, and 10 car batteries for the department to use for its survey work in rural areas, with a total value of 14 million kip.

The training was provided by UniqTeK Company Limited, a distributor of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) technology, which is manufactured by Shanghai Huace Navigation Technology Ltd (CHC Navigation), a leading manufacturer of survey equipment from Shanghai, China. CHC Navigation has three offices worldwide, in China, the USA, and France, and has over 52 distributors worldwide, including in Laos.
