Leasing companies eye increasing business
The business operations of leasing companies in Laos are now booming with markedly increased interest from customers, causing many companies to establish plans to offer better services to meet the demands of clients.
AEON Leasing Service (Lao) Company Limited, one of the private leasing companies operating in Laos, last week unveiled its plans to increase a variety of products on the leasing lists.
Senior Executive Vice President for Marketing and Operations at AEON Leasing Service (Lao) Company Limited, Ms Supattra Rugkhumkaew told media representatives on Friday that it aims to increase its customers by over three to four fold in the years to come.
She said the company had only 4,000 customers last year, which is still considered as a small number of customers.
“We're not sure about the exact number of customers in the years to come but the opportunity of gaining more clients is positive so we have to work harder,” Ms Supattra said.
She explained that the presence of many leasing companies in Laos has provided options for employees of both public and private companies, enterprises and the government sector to have access to items they need but cannot pay for upfront.
“Items on offer for customers will include motorcycles and electronic devices including smart phones, computers and other items,” she said.
She explained that the leasing companies allow low income earners to own items that are necessary for everyday life.
“We are now studying putting c ars on the leasing options and house leasing will also be on study but basically it should begin with the smallest items,” Ms Supattra said.
The company plans to open branch offices in Savannakhet and Champassak provinces in 2015-16, according to the company's Managing Director, Mr Shiro Kitano.
He also said that the company was proud to be part of providing choices for low income customers to access the use of the needed items.
On the occasion of the company's 1st year anniversary of business operations in Laos, it organised a lucky draw event to reward its customers.
Deputy Director General of the Financial Institution Supervision Department under the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL), Mr Visone Saysongkham and other relevant officials witnessed the event.
The prize winner of a Honda Wave 110 motorcycle worth more than 14 million kip was Ms Soudaphone Chanthavong from Mee shop.
Meanwhile Mr Santi Saysombath from K Plaza won an iPhone 6, worth more than 6 million kip and the winner of a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was Ms Chanthachone Philavong from the IT City shop.
Currently many leasing companies provide a wide range of services to their customers and also cooperate with banks to provide electronic payment services.
Banque Pour le Commerce Exterieur Lao Public (BCEL) recently cooperated with AEON Leasing Service (Lao) Company Limited to provide repayment services via the bank's Autopay system.
The holders of BCEL accounts can instruct the bank to open an automatic debit from their accounts to repay AEON every month without having to pay at AEON counters.
Presently the presence of the Thanasup Leasing and Finance Company Limited, Mahathun Leasing Company and other leasing companies in Laos pave the way for low income earners to lease items of need.
