Lao Telecom projects revenue increase
The Lao Telecommunications Company (LTC) aims to earn income of 1,400 billion kip from its services in the country, an increase of 10.4 percent over last year.
The plan was revealed last Friday at the company's annual meeting, which was attended by Deputy Minister of Post and Telecommunications Mr Thansamay Kommasith, Lao Telecom General Director Mr Thongsay Sanexaya, and more than 287 Lao Telecom officials from all branches across the country.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Thongsay identified significant outcomes that the company had achieved through the year.
He said the company invested about US$34.8 million in service improvements and telecom network expansion, including US$26.97 million for its mobile phone system, US$4.05 million for transmission lines, US$0.23 million for landline phones, and US$3.62 million for internet and other services.
The company expanded customer services into 23 centres across the country and opened cross border services between Laos and overseas.
Alongside that the company continued to implement its scratch for luck programme and chance draws to return profits to customers.
LTC currently has 1.4 million subscribers, of which over 45,000 use landlines, 288,000 use WinPhone numbers, and over 245, 000 are internet customers.
In 2014 the company earned 1,346 billion kip, or 104 percent of annual plan, and net profit of 206 billion, about 120.6 percent of annual plan, an increase of 23.4 percent compared to the previous year.
Besides this, the company has improved its regulations and policy for social welfare to improve the livelihoods of its staff.
In social responsibility, the company donated around 2.9 billion kip to help and support government organisations and communities.
In 2015, LTC plans to earn an income of 1,400 billion kip from its services and expects to earn a net profit of 227 billion kip, an increase of 10.4 percent compared to last year.
The company will pay 357 billion kip in obligations to the government, and invest more than US$26.5 million in improvements to and expansion of its telecom network system to ensure both the quantity and quality of service.
The company will build another 25 customer service centres and gain more than 200,000 new subscribers over all service systems.
