Banks award membership certificates

The Depositor Protection Fund (DPF) awarded certificates of membership to Public Bank, Maybank, Maruhan Japan Bank and Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Bank in Vientiane last week.

The handout of the certificates aimed to enable depositors to feel more secure and confident when depositing their money in these banks.

At the official ceremony, DPF Director, Mr Santi Phonmeuanglao said the four ma in banks had records of good experience, efficient funds and effective management.

“Membership of the Depositor Protection Fund means credits will be certified and the member complies with Lao law related to the banking sector as well as making a contribution to socio-economic development in the country,” he said.

Currently, the DPF has a total of 30 members and can show an accurate growth of banking institutions in Laos. The DPF is a symbol for all its bank members to instill confidence in depositors, Mr Santi said.

Senior administrative officers of four banks received the certificates of membership and represe ntatives of the board of directors of the Bank of the Lao PDR were present at the award ceremony.
