Innovation for print industries

The Lao print and paper industries have learnt about the newest innovations and techniques in the field thanks to a visit from a leading German printing organisation.

PrintPromotion is a non-profit organisation working to help the printing and paper converting industries worldwide by establishing a network, exchanging experiences and spreading know-how.

Managing Director, Mr Markus Heering, said the organisation was in Laos to discuss new innovation, printing technologies and challenges with its customers.

“Additionally, we organise four-week training courses twice a year related to the printing industry and invite teachers from around the world to train in Germany in the field,” he said.

“Conferences to inform our customers on the latest technologies and applications are also organised annually around the globe.”

According to Mr Heering, the annual training courses are for specialist teachers and managers to improve their basic and advanced skills.

A week-long tour of introducing new innovations and applications in the printing and paper converting industries was scheduled for Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Mr Heering said Laos was a strategic country that shared borders with major customers in Thailand, Vietnam and China.

“I don't have individual business interests but we want to prepare the market for industry,” he said.

“If we have the opportunity and possibility we will invite the print industry in Laos to share with us and tell us about their new printing technologies.”

Mr Heering said with the international market integrating more closely, growing markets like Laos had to know what was going on around the world.
