CamCan Energy celebrates oil and gas concession

Canadian company CamCan Energy Limited celebrated its newly-announced oil and gas concession in Khammuan, Savannakhet and Saravan provinces at a lavish launch party in Vientiane on Monday night.

The company has been granted a concession to search for oil and gas across 11,974 sq m as part of its plan to develop Laos into an industry powerhouse.

Based in Canada, CamCan has experience in several countries in both onshore and offshore oil and gas projects and has turned its attention to Laos and Cambodia.

CamCan Energy President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Peter Haverson, said the company had the highest standards and had received recognition from governments in other countries for its record in health and safety, the environment and the use of technology.

“We are eager to start and look forward to working closely with the people of the Lao PDR in order to search for and hopefully find large commercial deposits of oil and gas, and to see Laos internationally recognised as the new Saudi Arabia of Southeast Asia,” he said.

“We are here to build with you a great relationship of trust, and to realise a wonderful dream for the future. We hope your continued support will allow CamCan Energy Limited's project to become the gateway for oil and gas energy in Laos.”

Mr Haverson thanked the government and all relevant authorities for their support.

Company staff and government officials enjoyed performances from famous Lao singer Ms Aluna Thavonesouk throughout the night at the launch ceremony.
