Malaysian firm introduces concrete products to Laos

Zenn HRB Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian based manufacturing company making pre-stressed spun concrete poles and other concrete products, yesterday announced the introduction of high quality concrete products to Laos.

The technical presentation was jointly made by the Jidnapha Construction Company Limited and Zenn HRB Sdn Bhd with the purpose of explaining the superior quality of their electricity poles, piles and sleepers.

Representatives, officials and technical staff from Electricite du Laos and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport's Lao Railway Department were invited to the meeting.

Malaysian Ambassador to Laos Mr Dato Than Tai Hing attended the opening ceremony along with senior Lao officials.

“Zenn comes to Laos at the right time because the country is located in the middle of the Mekong region where economic growth is rapidly rising each year along with other development sectors,” the ambassador said.

He suggested that Laos is on track to become the ‘battery of Asean' in the years to come, which will involve the use of a lot more concrete as part of the development process.

Chief Executive Officer of Jidnapha Construction, Ms Phengmany Vorarath, said her company was quite confident of cooperating with the Malaysian group in terms of reaching a possible agreement for setting up a manufacturing unit in Vientiane in the near future.

“These concrete poles have been produced with the use of high technology that complies with Japanese Industrial Standards. They are light, durable and easy to transport,” she said.
