Shares manage to grow on both exchanges

Shares rallied this April 5 morning on the nation's two stock exchanges after a deep decline over the past two days.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index gained 0.6 per cent, reaching 500.27 points. Gainers outnumbered losers by 104-76.

Trading value, however, declined 24.2 per cent over yesterday morning's level to VND529.4 million (US$25.2 million) on a volume of nearly 31.4 million shares.

The VN30-Index also rose 0.54 per cent to reach 567.46 points. Among the 30 top shares that the index represents, 19 stocks increased while eight others lost value.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index added 0.13 per cent, standing at 60.61 points. The number of advancers nearly doubled that of decliners.

Market value totalled just VND123.8 billion ($5.8 million), falling around 40 per cent compared to yesterday morning, as trading volume fetched 17.4 million shares.

The HNX30-Index, tracking the northern bourse's leading shares, finished the morning session 0.4 per cent higher at 115.27 points.

The temporary recovery of the stock market may not remain after experts from the Spring Economic Forum held this morning said that the country's economy was facing difficulties in many fields.

The two bourses will open for afternoon session at 1 pm.
