Shares halt several days of rally

Shares saw a correction in HCM City this morning with the VN-Index sliding 0.64 per cent to 462.28 points.

Trading value fell 5.5 per cent over yesterday morning's level to VND843.2 billion (US$40.1 million), while trading volume reached 70.7 million shares.

Of more than 260 listed stocks, 80 codes advanced while 39 others retreated and the remaining 154 closed unchanged.

The VN30, composed of the HCM City Stock Exchange's 30 leading shares, also tumbled by 0.67 per cent to 542.67 points. Only five of these stocks managed to rally.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index failed to hold onto the gains of the morning session, dropping 0.16 per cent to 62.61 points.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 131-79.

Market value fell slightly to VND469.7 billion ($22.3 million) as 63.8 million shares changed hands. Declining nearly 1.1 per cent, the HNX30 - tracking the Ha Noi bourse's largest shares by capitalisation and liquidity - hit 120.33 points.

The two exchanges will open for afternoon trading at 1 pm.
