Việt Nam–Italy Space Technology Centre established

Multinational company Temix Group and the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology announced on September 17 the establishment of the Vietnam–Italy Space Technology Center, a platform for research, technology development and advanced training in space technology and aerospace systems.

Multinational company Temix Group and the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology announced on September 17 the establishment of the Vietnam–Italy Space Technology Center, a platform for research, technology development and advanced training in space technology and aerospace systems.

It will build on the Temix mmWave Systems–PTIT Advanced Design Centre.

The launch marked the first anniversary of the Advanced Design Centre and the 60th of the Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications.

Over its first year, the Advanced Design Center has developed R&D and training infrastructure and created a team of more than 30 engineers and professionals with master's and doctoral degrees.

The centre has worked on high-technology products, including satellite communication equipment, software-defined communication systems, electronic and computing systems, and specialised radio equipment for aircraft, drones, satellites, and ground-based platforms.

It has also supported PTIT's education and research activities, supervises research projects and graduation theses, and contributed to dozens of scientific papers.

Under the new initiative, the Việt Nam–Italy Space Technology Centre will seek to attract experts, engineers, and researchers to work on advanced space technology and aerospace electronics, while strengthening technology, and industrial cooperation between Việt Nam and Italy.

Armando Caravella, founder and chairman of Temix Group, said the new centre marks the expansion of cooperation from a design centre into a broader platform for space technology research, industrial development, and advanced training.

“We are bringing together Vietnamese academic excellence and our industrial experience in electronics for space through a permanent structure, with people trained here and products developed here.”

Prof. Đặng Hoài Bắc, president of PTIT, said the partnership would strengthen the university's capacity to develop advanced technologies, attract international expertise, and train highly qualified personnel for Việt Nam's emerging space and aerospace sectors.

Temix has interests in satellite communications, defence electronics and aerospace, and operations in Italy, Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, and Việt Nam.

PTIT is a university under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
