The central city of Huế will be boosting cooperation with Carlsberg Việt Nam as a key partner in achieving the city’s ambitious targets for green growth, circular economy and sustainable development.
Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee Nguyễn Khắc Toàn said in a working visit by Carlsberg Việt Nam that the firm has long been a trusted partner in the sustainable development of Huế and central Việt Nam.
He added that the city would create favourable conditions in investment environment and legal frameworks and would make efforts to remove barriers for the brewery.
Toàn said the city and Carlsberg Việt Nam will be strengthening their partnership in terms of investment expansion, technological innovations, environment protection and community development.
Managing Director of Carlsberg Việt Nam Andrew Khan said that central Việt Nam is an important investment location for the company, while its Phú Bài brewery plays a key role in the central Việt Nam market.
He said the expansion of the brewery facility, with an investment of nearly US$90 million, was a major milestone in the company’s journey of innovation and sustainability. It plans to convert to 100 per cent reusable or recyclable packaging across bottles, kegs and cans in 2026, heading towards net zero emissions from its production by 2028.
The expanded project will help increase Phú Bài’s brewing capacity by 50 per cent, making it Carlsberg’s largest beer production facility in Asia and one of the most productive globally within the Group in terms of labour efficiency.
Meanwhile, the company’s ‘Fresh Water for Beloved Central’ programme, which was launched in 2019, has brought more than 3.3 million cubic metres of clean water to nearly 9,500 households, improving the livelihoods of approximately 40,000 people across the central region.
Carlsberg Việt Nam also sent a VNĐ1.5 billion ($57,000) donation to support relief and recovery efforts in Huế and Đà Nẵng, two areas severely affected by the torrential rainfall and landslides in November.
