Citibank Việt Nam appoints first Vietnamese CEO

Minh becomes the first Vietnamese national to assume the role of Citi country officer since the bank began operating in Việt Nam more than three decades ago.

Ngô Thị Hồng Minh is appointed as Citibank Việt Nam's country officer & banking head as well as general director of Citi’s HCM City branch.

Citibank Việt Nam has appointed Ngô Thị Hồng Minh as its country officer and banking head for Việt Nam as well as general director of Citi’s HCM City branch, marking the first time a Vietnamese national has taken the top role since the bank began operating in the country more than three decades ago.

In her new position, Minh will serve as Citi’s most senior representative in Việt Nam and the face of the franchise in the local market. She will lead the bank’s strategy across all client segments and product lines, domestically and internationally, to ensure it remains the preeminent banking partner for clients operating in Việt Nam.

Minh will hold direct accountability for the financial performance of the banking business, ensuring Citi delivers the full value of its global network to clients while strengthening strategic partnerships across the corporate and institutional banking ecosystem.

She will oversee regulatory engagement, legal entity governance, and the implementation of the bank’s global transformation initiatives in Việt Nam.

Minh will also be responsible for maintaining a strong risk control environment to ensure the highest standards of governance, compliance and conduct.

The appointment reaffirms the bank’s long-term commitment to Việt Nam and reflects the growing strategic importance of the Vietnamese market within Citi’s Asia South cluster.

Citi has served clients in Việt Nam since 1993, offering corporations, financial institutions, investors and government organisations a broad range of financial products and services.

Over the past 30 years, the bank has supported Việt Nam’s economic growth, international trade connectivity and the expansion of multinational and local enterprises.
