Kingdom’s milled rice export up 33.7% in Jan-Sept

Exported milled rice varieties include fragrant rice, long grain white rice, parboiled rice, and organic rice.

Cambodia exported nearly 596,341 tonnes of milled rice in the first nine months of 2025, up 33.7 percent from 445,913 tonnes in the same period last year, a report from the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF) showed last Friday.

The Kingdom made $408 million in revenue from the export of the commodity during the January-September period this year, up 21 percent from $335 million recorded in the same period last year, read the report.

Exported milled rice varieties included fragrant rice, long grain white rice, parboiled rice, and organic rice, stated the report, citing that fragrant rice accounted for 68.81 percent of total rice export.

The commodity was exported to 69 countries and regions, the report added.

The Kingdom exported 248,277 tonnes of milled rice to countries in the European Union, Cambodia’s biggest market. This accounted for 41 percent of the total export amount, earning $192 million.

Cambodia exported 143,187 tonnes of the commodity to China and its autonomous regions, earning $85 million. Other markets are ASEAN members and other 32 African and Middle East countries, according to the report.

Lay Chhun Hour, President of the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), attributed the recent growth in rice exports to a collaborative effort.

Speaking with Khmer Times, Hour said, “We have actively promoted and enhanced our brand and expanded our reach, leading to significant growth in both volume and value.”

Efforts will be continued by CRF members in collaboration with government’s ministries and institutions to market Cambodia’s rice in more markets abroad, he added.

In addition, Cambodia generated some $1,209 million in revenue from border-traded paddy rice of some 5.24 million tonnes during the above-mentioned period.

Cambodia has been actively working to boost its agricultural exports, with rice being a cornerstone of its economy.

The Royal Government has also encouraged CRF to further strengthen its collaboration with relevant ministries and institutions to boost direct exports to international markets.

In 2024, Cambodia exported over 651,522 tonnes of milled rice worth $491 million.
