Cambodia’s GFT industrial potential highlighted at World Textile Exhibition in Shanghai

The Textile, Apparel, Footwear & Travel Goods Association in Cambodia (TAFTAC), represented by Deputy Secretary General Kaing Monika, joined the ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX) Roundtable Discussion at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2025, held on Sept. 2 in Shanghai, China. The session on “Opportunities in ASEAN in a Changing Trade Environment” brought together industry leaders to explore how ASEAN textile and apparel sectors can adapt and thrive amid evolving global trade dynamics. Each country representative also promoted investment opportunities in their respective countries.

According to a statement from AFTEX issued on Sept. 3, in the session, Kaing Monika highlighted Cambodia’s strong potential in the Garment, Footwear and Travel Goods (GFT) industries to the audience.

“TAFTAC is ready to welcome partners seeking new sourcing and investment opportunities in ASEAN’s evolving trade landscape,” he said.

TAFTAC also reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening regional collaboration, promoting sustainable growth, and seizing new opportunities for Cambodia’s garment, footwear, and travel goods industries, he said.

As a world-renowned exhibition, the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics is a comprehensive platform to showcase your supreme apparel fabrics and accessories.

There are numerous business opportunities available to connect with potential customers, explore new market opportunities, stay updated on next season’s trends, and add value to businesses.

It is currently one of the biggest and most comprehensive apparel, fabric, and accessories exhibitions in the world.

An official report from the General Department of Customs and Excise showed that Cambodia exported GFT products worth $7.38 billion in the first half of 2025, up 22 percent from the $6.02 billion reported in the same period in 2024.
