Cambodia’s fuel imports total $1.45 bln in the first 7 months

Cambodia’s total import of diesel fuel, gasoline, and combustion gas decreased by 13.1 percent in the first seven months of 2025, a Ministry of Commerce report showed on Thursday.

The value of diesel fuel, gasoline and combustion gas imports amounted to 1.45 billion U.S. dollars during the January-July period this year, compared with 1.67 billion dollars over the same period last year, the report said.

The kingdom spent $786 million for importing diesel fuel, down 12 per cent; $459.7 million for gasoline, down 20.6 per cent; and $204.6 million on combustion gas, up 6.3 per cent, the report added.

Currently, the Southeast Asian country is heavily reliant on oil and gas imports as its seabed’s oil reserves have not been exploited yet.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy has projected that the demand for oil and gas products in Cambodia will surge to 4.8 million tons in 2030, up from 2.8 million tons in 2020.
