The news was shared by the Board of Directors of PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) at the company’s second executive Party Committee meeting for the 2025-2030 term.
Nhon Trach 4 is on track to meet its completion target by the end of this year.
Nhon Trach 3 began supplying electricity to the grid on February 5 and is currently in a trial phase. In April alone, the plant operated stably for 30 hours at base load capacity, generating 812 MWh of electricity.
Nhon Trach 3 and 4 make up Vietnam’s first LNG-fired power plant complex, with a total investment of approximately $1.4 billion and a designed capacity of 1,624 MW, playing a crucial role in electricity supply for the southern region.
In late June, Nhon Trach 4 was connected to the national grid with an initial output of 50 MW. This marked the first grid synchronisation, a significant step in the trial phase before commercial operation in November.
The power plants are key national projects located in Ong Keo Industrial Park in the southern province of Dong Nai. Once fully operational, they will provide about nine billion kWh of electricity per year to the national grid.
